Shaquem Griffin was relegated to a special teams role in his first season with the Seattle Seahawks. Coach Pete Carroll want to change that in 2019.
The outside linebacker played just eight defensive snaps at the last 15 regular season matches. Carroll would like to use this year to Griffin's speed as a pass rusher -- a position of need in Seattle.
During offseason workouts, Carroll has moved Griffin around, placing him at weakside linebacker in nickel packages and strongside in foundation sets, where he can rush the passer.

"It has been really a fantastic deal for him," Carroll explained, through the team's official website. "We see just how much background he has on the edge. He has played with safety and outside linebacker for the most part in his profession. He's just more comfortable out there. That does not mean that he can not play behind the line of scrimmage. He's gained a lot there, but you can view him on the border, in space and coming off the edge and pressures and things like that, that it's a fantastic spot for him.
